Our August 2014 Champion of Health is German Shepherd Dog, SG Garak von Heksterhorst, HIC, JJ-R, SR-T, EV-TG, ID-T, RPT, DD, CGN, CD, BH, AD, TR1, OB1, VPG1, IPO3, KKL. “Garak” is an intelligent, highly trainable and athletic dog who is versatile, accomplished and titled in many venues. His favorites being IPO (formerly known as Schutzhund), Dock Dogs, Disc Dogs and CKC Obedience. He is owned, handled and trained by Leslie Greenson of Canada and bred by Rita Wuyts of Belgium proving to be an excellent example of how OFA and health testing has had an international impact.
Among his many accomplishments are a few special highlights: V Rated IPO3; Multiple High in Trials in both IPO and CKC Obedience; qualified for Dock Dogs World Championships in Big Air, Extreme Vertical and Iron Dog; Dock Dogs Extreme Vertical personal best of 7’2”and Top ranked Dog for 2013 in Extreme Vertical-Top Gun.
Garak comes from working bloodlines with ancestors who have left their mark in the sport of Schutzhund at international level competition for many years. He also has young offspring starting to enter competition with excellent results. His son, Timber, was the IPO1 Canadian Eastern Regional Champion for 2014 and his daughter, Berlin, received her SD-A/SP (Advanced Scent Detection title). More of his offspring are working on IPO, Search and Rescue, Police, Scent Detection, and Flyball in both Canada and the USA.
Good looks, intelligence and athleticism are merely icing on the cake for this healthy German Shepherd Dog. He has OFA Excellent hips, as well as Normal ratings for his elbows, eyes, thyroid and cardiac tests.
